Shelter in Place

  • Remember 911
  • All classrooms should have a radio. Turn it on and listen for updates from administrators
  • “Shelter in place is the use of any classroom or other interior space for the purpose of providing temporary shelter from hazardous material release”
  • Move all students indoors; ensure aids assist handicapped students
  • Close all windows and doors
  • Turn off room heating, cooling, or ventilation systems
  • If there appears to be air contamination within the shelter, place a wet paper towel over your nose or mouth for temporary respiratory protection. Inform the frront office. Relocate to another part of the building
  • Continue to follow instructions given over phone intercom system
  • Do Not allow anyone to leave the shelter until “all clear” is given
